The salt roads and salt-paths
They have dealt with salt in the whole world. Roads and streets, where they dealt with the goods got the name salt-paths, salt roads and salaria.
- At the Via Salaria they have been transported salt via the Apennines from Ostia to Truentum.
- Salt roads for the caravans have been connected the oasis in Libya together. Courses of the river and sea ways have been played an important rule fot the transport of salt.
- The mediaeval salt roads have gone out from Halle/ Saale, Reichenhall and Salzburg. Today many ways are carrying the name "salt road". ToVery interesting for tourists is the Old Salt Road from the North Sea to the Mediterranean. The route leads from Lübeck-Mölln-Lauenburg-Lüneburg via Magdeburg, Halle and Leipzig. Then it runs across the Ore Mountains via Prague in the South of Italy. Ibrahim ibn Jacub has already described this way in the year 973.
